It is unlawful for any person to possess a weapon, explosive, flammable material, or other material dangerous to persons or property in a public or private elementary or secondary school, on the grounds of the school, or in those parts of a building, park, or stadium which are being used for an activity sponsored by or through the school. A violation of this section is a class B misdemeanor punishable by a fine of not more than one thousand dollars ($1,000), or by imprisonment for a period not longer than six months, or by both such fine and imprisonment, unless a higher penalty is prescribed in the Criminal Code, title 76 of the U.C.A. (Ord. 97-1, amended, 2000)
